In a remarkable display of consumer enthusiasm, Newegg sold out its entire stock of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs within minutes of their release. The RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 models, which launched on January 30, 2025, experienced unprecedented demand, with most units claimed in just five minutes.
The RTX 50 Series GPUs have been highly anticipated for their advanced features and performance enhancements. In a press release, Newegg reported that the response to these GPUs was “extraordinary,” with the entire inventory sold out in a mere 20 minutes.
Because of this demand, Newegg has committed to working closely with NVIDIA and its Add-In Board (AIB) partners to ensure future restocks and continued availability of the RTX 50 Series GPUs. Jim Tseng, Vice President of Product Management at Newegg, stated, “The overwhelming demand reaffirms the gaming and PC community’s enthusiasm for the very best technology.”
To assist customers in upgrading to the latest generation of video cards, Newegg offers a GPU trade-in program. This program allows customers to trade in their old GPUs for credit toward the purchase of new ones.
Retailers such as Best Buy, B&H Photo, Micro Center, and NVIDIA’s official site are offering these cards, though availability remains scarce. Prospective buyers are advised to create accounts, preload payment and shipping information, and sign up for stock notifications on these sites. Additionally, leveraging a computer with a stable network, checking online frequently, and utilizing social media for updates can increase the chances of securing one of these coveted graphics cards.
Due to this scarcity, customers have expressed frustration while some sites have taken advantage to sell the units at extremely high markups. To calm down the situation, a spokesperson from NVIDIA posted reassurances on the company’s forum section, saying “NVIDIA & our partners are shipping more stock to retail every day to help get GPUs into the hands of gamers”.
Meanwhile Newegg has launched its high-performance gaming PCs powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs.These are produced by Newegg’s in-house brand, ABS (Advanced Battlestations). ABS systems are designed for gamers, Artificial Intelligence enthusiasts and creators.
“We build each ABS PC here in California with the latest and greatest hardware Newegg has to offer,” says Steven Chien, the ABS VP of Product Management.
